We end our academic year by reflecting once again upon a fabulous year of music making. This year we have introduced a new programme which allows us all to celebrate those schools who lead the way in music education, performance and innovation. As a consequence, five of our schools will share their musical achievements and experience; with more schools now looking at the assessment criteria we are sure there will additional applications in 2025.
Anchorsholme Academy, Hawes Side Academy, Park Community Academy, Stanley Primary School and Westminster Academy are the first of our schools to celebrate this accolade and in every case, this was so very much deserved. Each have strong singing programmes, choirs, ensembles and, performed at many fabulous live events. Their musical education is apparent in every year from Early Years to Year 6 and the solid foundations brought about by learning staff notation has provided ideal opportunities for so many of their children to pursue their musical interests when moving to high school.
Each Ambassador School has a clear working partnership with Blackpool Music Service and this was most evident. However, the work of the music teachers in each of the schools and support from each Headteacher was also very apparent. With schools such as these, we can now share progression routes, musical aspirations and, continue to celebrate music making across Blackpool for many years to come.
The awards were presented by The Worshipful the Mayor of Blackpool, Councillor Peter Hunter on behalf of Blackpool Music Service.
