Our 23rd Annual Schools Alive event once again exceeded all expectations! Now based in the Winter Gardens, the Opera House stage allowed for increased stage numbers which resulted in a 35% increase in participants and audience numbers. Whilst our initial meetings with 82 staff gave us all a taster of what was coming we had little idea of just how good our schools staged performances were going to be.

36 schools performed during the week and an additional 16 schools were represented in various bands, orchestras and ensembles. In reality staged performances came from 92% of Blackpool schools including all three SEND schools.

As for the wonderful staged performances, these ranged from ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ to ‘Elmer the Elephant’, from a fabulous cultural ‘Mulan’ performance to a wonderful light display during ‘Make a Wish’. Whilst the chocolate cake eating session during ‘Matilda’ was completely indulgent, the 40 scooters wheeled on stage warranted a new challenge!

Performances from 2,500 children during the week displayed Blackpool schools and their talented children to the very best. The initial programmes from every school were well written, prepared, had so much humour, colour and fabulous singing.

Congratulations to all who participated and a massive thank you to the huge audiences who were clearly entertained throughout.
