We held our Pop Idol 2018 competition on Tuesday 22nd May.
Congratulations go to all of the 24 finalists who beat hundreds of other competitors from within their own schools to reach this competition.
The standard of vocal music taking place in Blackpool’s schools and academies is extremely high and this is due to a great deal of hard work from our Music teachers, Head teachers and of course the pupils themselves. This can be best observed when considering the confidence, concentration and sheer enjoyment of the finalists on stage.
Adjudicators Scott Gallagher and Ged Mills had the difficult task of choosing the winners for the evening and were extremely impressed by the talent and confidence of the finalists.
We will soon be holding our next competitive event ‘Musician of the Year’ on Tuesday 19th June at Springfield Methodist Church.
The winner of the Primary School pupils was the very talented Tia Desai singing One moment in time made famous by Whitney Houston. Tia sang with gusto and emotion.
Second place went to Maya Thomas singing 'When we were young' by Adele.
Third place went to Lily Cross singing 'A Thousand Years' by Christina Perri.
Alice Irving won the KS3 final singing 'Never Enough' from The Greatest Showman. Alice sang with clarity and confidence. A stunning performance!
Second place was Raine Walsh singing 'Yours' by Ella Henderson.
Third place went to George Robertson singing 'You Raise Me up' by Josh Groban.
Rhys performed his own composition with warmth and ease. He is certainly someone to look out for in the future!
